Research & Education Efforts
At IU School of Medicine and IU Health, Dr. Schmidt performs clinical, translational and outcomes research and education directed at improving the care of patients with pancreatic cysts and cancer. His research program at IU is targeted at early detection and prevention of pancreatic cancer through rigorous identification, tracking and treatment of patients “at risk” for pancreatic cancer through a multidisciplinary screening clinic, registry, community outreach, education and research discovery. There are at present 4 main components to his research program:
IU Pancreatic Cyst and Cancer Early Detection Clinic (PCC-EDC)
IU-Regenstrief Pancreatic Cyst Registry (IUPCR)
IU Pancreatic Tissue-Fluid Bank (IUPTB)
IU Pancreatic Cyst and Cancer Biomarker Discovery Lab (IUPCL)
The Bigelow-Brand Charity Advisory Board is seeking board members and volunteers to help with their initiatives and events (Bigelow Open, Inaugural Annual Benefit Dinner) to raise awareness and hope in supporting pancreatic cancer research. If interested in service, please contact the Chair of the Bigelow-Brand Charity Advisory Board, Whitey Kapsalis at email@example.com .
